35TH Annual Chili Open Returns to Hale Farm & Village

Hitting some golf balls in the snow sounds like a good time, right? Well, the folks from the Akron Rotary Camp are holding their annual fundraiser where people can hit some balls, eat some chili, and support a great cause.

Mella Castner, the Executive Director of the Akron Rotary Camp, along with Nathaniel “Thane” Billow who is the co-chair of the Chili Open joined us in the WAOH studios to discuss this year’s event and how it can impact a special population in the greater Akron area.

The event will take place at Hale Farm and Village February 1st at 9am. Not only will people get a chance to attend, eat some chili, and have some fun, but they also get to participate in some unique golf courses including the hole in one challenge.

“There’s 5 different courses for all different skill sets, ” Billow said.

The Akron Rotary Camp has been around for many years and this event has grown a lot over those 35 years, and the camp has benefited greatly from the generosity of those who have attended the Chili Open.
