The cabaret room will be buzzing with excitement once more on West Market Street this Friday.
House Three Thirty is hosting their poetry night on Friday, August 28 at 7pm.
I spoke with Sian Cotton, Entertainment Coordinator at House Three Thirty as well as Larissa Jackson, one of the team members.
Jackson talked about what the room feels like when the first poet takes the stage.
“The lights are dim, and the room is very quiet when the first poet takes the stage,” Larissa explained.
Cotton said that this event gives people a chance to share their experiences and creativity with others in a comfortable environment.
“We’ve been doing the poetry night for three years,” Cotton said. “The community has really responded to it and we’re proud to have this event at House Three Thirty.”
There’s not a lot of spaces in the Greater Akron area where folks can do these types of things and it’s good to see that people can have a space where they can show people their talents and affinity for spoken word.
They both said that when people leave at the end of the night they want them to feel something. The poets have really made an impact on the audience and the community as a whole.
“It’s very nice to see them up there having that experience and doing such a wonderful job,” Jackson said.
