On May 9th, The Summit County Historical Society @ The Akron Zoo welcomes you to join them in a celebration of life for the 225th birthday of famous abolitionist John Brown. Speakers from the Akron History Center will offer presentations, followed by a short hike to John Brown’s memorial not far from zoo property. Guests will then be invited to continue the celebrations at the John Brown House for ice-cream and cake, located on 514 Diagonal Road, Akron, and open from 4:30-6pm. The event is free, and takes place from 3:30-6:30pm.
