-Inaugural season of the Cuyahoga Valley Community Chorus 23-24 -Formerly Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus (formed in 1986 under the auspices of the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department)
-Four Directors in the 38 years.
-Ted Shure is fourth director celebrating his 20th anniversary season.
-Early in 2023 it was mutually determined that the Chorus and community would be better served if we were on our own – so we established our own non-profit organization which took effect in August of this year.
-this was made possible through a generous grant from the Hillier Family Foundation which disbanded a year ago.
-Ted’s first concert as director in 2004 was for President George W. Bush when he came to Cuyahoga Falls during a re-election campaign stop.
Since then the Chorus performs regularly at: Holiday Tree Festival to benefit Children’s Hospital Opening of the Ice Skating Rink and Tree Lighting – Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Joint concerts with the Cuyahoga Falls Band Public performances at the Cuyahoga Falls Library and St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (now our official home) Many performances at nursing homes, retirement homes, hospitals Civic organizations National Anthem for the Akron Rubber Ducks Oakwood Cemetery for the Memorial Day Observance Ceremony Survivor’s Dinner for Relay for Life Appearances on TV for WOIO’s food drive Playhouse Square New for our inaugural season Performed Handel’s Messiah jointly with CVCA Students conducted by Ted Shure at CVCA Singing the National Anthem for the CAVS (January 3) – first time Part of our mission is to expand into other communities while still being committed to Cuyahoga Falls as our home. Mayor Walters is very supportive of what we do and will be on hand Saturday to officiate a ribbon cutting to officially kick off our new organization. Over 50 members strong and known for high artistic quality. Spring rehearsals begin January 9, 7pm at St. Luke’s. I hear singers for placement in the group, not to exclude. Varied song styles from broadway to gospel and everything in between. In the spring we devote 1/3 of our program to honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
